Ryan Pearce

Ryan Pearce

Ryan tragically passed away on Tuesday 24th August 2004, aged 18 years.
‘Sadly missed and loved always’ Mum, Dad and family.

All Is Well
as read by Charlotte & Charley during Church Service.

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

Ryan's family thank you most sincerely for your support following their recent and sad loss.  The sympathy, kind gestures, flowers, cards, donations and tributes are now, and will continue to be, a source of comfort knowing that Ryan will be remembered with affection by so many.

In memory of Ryan Shenley Leisure Centre agreed for Bunky’s to supply two large boards which they engraved with the winners of the league and cup for each league (a board for Div1 and a board for Div2) respectively.  They're mounted on the walls in the bar. This was paid for out of the contributions for Ryan's memorial fund from Bunky Chollox.  Other contributions collected going to Wooton FC.

There will be a new 'Fair Play' award introduced from this season (2004/2005) for the Shenley League in Ryan's name. This will be judged upon the team with the least bookings and in the event of a tie, the most league points (which ever league) and in the event of a further tie, the most goals scored. A Shield has been  supplied which will remain at Shenley with further smaller shields for each winning team to keep, purchased in advance for the next 20ish seasons.

Bunky Chollox will be introducing their own new award based on Entertainment value sponsored by his Granddad, John. This will be a crystal glass decanter onto which the name/year of the winner will be engraved. This will be passed to the new winner at the end of each season. This will be in Ryan's name of course and will be awarded as follows:

Each season, the most entertaining Bunkies moments will be recorded, either on or off the pitch, and at the end of the season will be put to a vote by all club members. The person responsible for the winning incident will be awarded the Decanter for the year (engraved with the year & their name), and will get to keep a set of two Crystal glasses.  These may be whisky tumblers, brandy glasses or wine glasses - chosen by the winner.  This award has been retired with the rewards being given to Gaz.

The first winner of this award is Ryan, and his name will be engraved onto the decanter, and Lesley (Ryan's Mum) will be the first to receive the award in Ryan's honour. Lesley will also receive the two glasses to keep.

Roade School are holding a tournament in Ryan's name every year and Wootton FC are giving an award for their Young Player of the Year in Ryan's honour.

Ryan will be sadly missed by all and forever in our thoughts.  Bunky Chollox and friends.
