Div 2 Cup Night 2003-2004

Bunky Chollox TWO took to the pitch Tuesday night in the Shenley League Division Two Cup, hoping to emulate the success of the BC1 team last week. 

Recent challenges in this competition have fallen at early stages, in fact BC2 have failed to go beyond the first round since July 2001, - however this year their league run-in (barring one humiliating annihilation) had shown good form. 

The night was muggy and hot and the draw had thrown up MK United as the opponents. During the season, BC2 had lost twice to United, going down 2-3 at home and losing 1-4 in the return fixture – but there seemed to be an optimistic mood as they warmed up among what was officially recorded as the highest attendance of the season (Erica counting as two). 

Unfortunately, it was not to be …. as United made early pressure pay by taking a two goal lead relatively early (through two cracking goals), before exposing a tired and chasing team to slot a third shortly before the end. 

Chollox ! 

This officially closed the 2003/2004 season and although it was a disappointing result, the evening recovered as Shenley threw in complimentary beer (always good) and gave a special presentation for ‘services rendered’ to the outgoing (in respect of his leaving, not his disposition) BC Chairman, Jon de Fraine, who recently stunned the football world and announced his resignation from the club to seek new challenges on an international level.
